Cesar Chavez pedestrian-friendly redesign approved by SFMTA board

A proposal to transform Cesar Chavez Street from a busy automobile thoroughfare into a stretch of road that is safer for pedestrians and bicyclists was approved Tuesday.Under the measure, the Mission district street would feature fewer automobile lanes, a median with green space, and sidewalk bulbouts that decrease the length pedestrians have to walk to cross the street.
