This crook better reevaluate his taste in clothes. A man was arrested Monday for trying to steal an off-duty cop’s jacket from a Castro-area business, police said. Several off-duty officers were enjoying a night out in the 4000 block of 18th Street around 6:30 p.m. when they noticed the crook trying to pilfer the expensive coat.

A one-alarm fire damaged an apartment building in San Francisco's Castro district, a fire dispatcher said.
The fire was reported in a three-story building in the 300 block of Noe Street at about 10:45 a.m., according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The fire was controlled in about 15 minutes, and there were no reports of injuries.
Damage was confined to one room, according to dispatch.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

There hasn’t been such a bash since 2006, the year a shooting injured nine people during the decades-old event.
