A man was stabbed and another pummeled with a cooler at a tailgate party in the Candlestick Park parking lot Sunday, police said. Polluted shipyard areas planned to be built over

Building rules are being developed to protect the health of builders and future residents at a polluted shipyard. City lawmakers in the coming months will be asked to approve redevelopment plans, including 10,500 homes, an arena and new parks on 700 acres centered at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard and Candlestick Point. The Navy is spending hundreds of millions of dollars cleaning up the radioactive and toxic legacy of its operations at the 500-acre former shipyard. Read More

KaBoom music event takes tunes south

KaBoom will have a new home this year, moving from The Embarcadero to Candlestick Point. The venue change was announced Monday by KFOG, the radio station that hosts the event that is in its 17th year. The switch comes after Port of San Francisco officials in October banned heavy vehicles from the concert’s traditional location at piers 30 and 32 following an incident in which the pier buckled under the weight of a cargo truck. Lawsuit targets 49ers ballot measure

An opponent of a Santa Clara plan to spend public funds to build a football stadium filed a lawsuit that seeks to remove or alter an upcoming ballot measure for funding. If Santa Clara voters approve Measure J on June 8 — named the Santa Clara Stadium Taxpayer Protection and Economic Progress Act — their city plans to contribute redevelopment funds and new hotel taxes toward a $937 million stadium.
