A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of shooting a man in the face last weekend during a residential burglary in Daly City.Luis Alberto Gutierrez, 27, was taken into custody without incident in his hometown of Vallejo. He faces charges of attempted murder and burglary. Gutierrez allegedly shot a 43-year-old man just before 2 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Santa Barbara Avenue, police said.

At least 14 thefts were reported in The City on Monday, the majority of which involved crooks going to extreme lengths to steal cellphones, police said.
In one incident, two men broke into a 62-year-old man’s apartment and fled with only a cellphone. Other thefts involved a crook knocking a man unconscious in the 500 block of Market Street before taking his cellphone, and a robber holding up a bicyclist at gunpoint to snatch his mobile phone, police said.

A China Basin burglary was foiled Sunday after the victim helped police track his stolen laptop with his smartphone, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The 32-year-old victim awoke at 5:50 a.m. when he heard footsteps coming from the rooftop deck of his home in the unit block of Clarence Place. He noticed that his office was in disarray and several items were missing, including his laptop, Esparza said.

San Francisco police reportedly arrested a man Monday morning who was at a pawn shop trying to sell two computers labeled as San Francisco State University property following a break-in at the school recently. The Humanities Building at SFSU was broken into over the weekend and two iMac computers were stolen, school spokeswoman Ellen Griffin said. There was broken glass and damage to some windows and the room where the two computers were stolen.
