Poor grades apparently caused an Academy of Art University student to steal a bicycle from one of his school’s campuses, according to police.
The thief was reportedly captured on video March 26 swiping a Fuji bike from the campus at 601 Brannan St.
On April 4, police said, a “very observant” security guard spotted the suspect and identified him as a student.

A San Jose man took part in a San Francisco Police Department sting to win back his bicycle on Friday.The 27-year-old victim told cops that his $1,200 bicycle was stolen from Pier 39 on Oct. 23, police at Park Station said. Later, he saw his bike for sale online and arranged to buy it, police said. The victim contacted police and plainclothes officers accompanied him to buy the bike back.
