Pizza delivery guy robbed, carjacked in Bayview

A pizza delivery guy was robbed and carjacked Tuesday in the Bayview, police said. The 46-year-old victim was making a delivery at McKinnon Avenue and Mendell Street about 10:50 p.m. when a man in his 20s held him up at gunpoint, police said. The delivery man turned over his wallet, keys and cellphone and the gun-toting goon and two accomplices, also men in their 20s, jumped into the victim’s car and fled, police said. Read More

Two men held in Bayview slaying

Two men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting last week of a Southern California man who had been driving in the Bayview district, police announced Tuesday. Lupe Mercado, 37, and Barry Gilton, 38, both of San Francisco, were booked into County Jail on charges that they allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Calvin Sneed of Compton on June 4. Read More

Tail light violation leads to litany of charges for Bayview teen

A broken tail light led to a young man being booked on three different charges last week in the Bayview. The 19-year-old was arrested at Van Dyke Avenue and Ingalls Street about 8 p.m. Thursday after officers pulled over the car he was in for the tail light violation, police said. When the teenager went into his backpack for his ID, he pulled out a bottle of rum, police said. A records check found he also had an outstanding warrant. And he was carrying two joints. Read More

18-year-old shot in arm in Bayview

A man was shot in the Bayview on Wednesday night, police said. The 18-year-old victim was reportedly shot in the shoulder about 9:15 p.m. in the Double Rock housing complex. Officers from a substation in the complex heard the shots and found the victim with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and arm, police said. Physical fight led to Bayview shooting

A physical fight ended in a spray of bullets and left on man in critical condition Saturday night in the Bayview neighborhood.The shooting occurred just before midnight Saturday. Bayview flasher just ‘can’t help it’

He just couldn’t help it. Bayview police are investigating the case of a flasher who on Tuesday exposed himself to a woman. The 38-year-old victim was walking in the 2000 block of Jerrold Street when the creep walked across the street toward her, police said. As he approached, he dropped his drawers and exposed himself. Teen boy killed in shooting in Bayview

A teenage boy was killed and another teen and adult were injured in a shooting Friday night in the Bayview district, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said Monday. The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Jaquan Morton, 17, of San Francisco. Morton was with two other people in the 1200 block of Griffith Street near Palou Avenue about 8:46 p.m. when all three were fired upon by unknown gunmen, Fong said. Read More

A crime crackdown at the bustling intersection of 16th and Mission streets has netted 31 arrests since March 27, police said Friday.Most arrests were for narcotics and warrant violations, Mission Station police Capt. Foreclosed properties could fall under nuisance law penalties

Owners of foreclosed properties in San Francisco, such as banks, are coming under fire for allowing some of those homes to fall into disrepair. Supervisor Malia Cohen, whose District 10 includes the Bayview, has introduced legislation that would subject foreclosed properties to The City’s nuisance law, which allows for court abatement injunctions and fines. It also would triple the nuisance penalties for owners of 10 or more foreclosed properties. Read More

Man arrested trying to sell SF State computers at pawn shop

San Francisco police reportedly arrested a man Monday morning who was at a pawn shop trying to sell two computers labeled as San Francisco State University property following a break-in at the school recently. The Humanities Building at SFSU was broken into over the weekend and two iMac computers were stolen, school spokeswoman Ellen Griffin said. There was broken glass and damage to some windows and the room where the two computers were stolen. Read More
