Navy reveals is latest cleanup proposal for former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard

The U.S. Navy has revealed its proposal for cleaning up a section of southern shoreline at the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard — one of the last such efforts the agency needs approval for. The Navy shuttered the shipyard in 1974, and in the early 1990s the property was included on a list of U.S. bases that would be closed and transferred to other agencies. A Sacramento man allegedly shot up a Western Addition home with a fully automatic AK-47 on Sunday night, injuring a man inside, police said. Just after 2 a.m. Monday, police arrested 42-year-old Kareem Benton in the Bayview district. A man was shot in the arm in the Bayview district Tuesday night, police said Wednesday. The shooting was reported around 9 p.m. in the 100 block of Doublerock Street. The 19-year-old victim said he heard gunshots, then realized he had been shot. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not life-threatening, according to police. Man allegedly sets ex-girlfriend on fire in Bayview district

San Francisco police are searching for a man suspected of throwing a flammable liquid at his ex-girlfriend and severely burning her. Authorities release mother of 16-year-old girl found dead in Bayview district

The mother of a 16-year-old who died on a Bayview sidewalk last weekend has been released from custody pending further investigation, authorities said Tuesday. Police officers noticed the girl, identified as Jaynice Johnson, on the ground about 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of Quesada Avenue and Jennings Street. A man was critically injured in a shooting Monday in the Bayview, police said. The 28-year-old victim was standing in the area of Newhall Street and La Salle Avenue about 11 p.m. when a man in his 20s approached, opened fire and fled, police said.
