The Giants played their first game at AT&T Park on Thursday since Game 2 of last year’s World Series, reigniting the exhibition Bay Bridge Series with a 7-3 loss to the A’s.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum began the game well, striking out four in his first three innings, but gave up a two-run homer to Yoenis Cespedes in the third. He departed the game with two outs and two on in the fifth before A’s outfielder Josh Reddick homered to right off reliever Jeremy Affeldt.

The Bay Bridge Series, which starts tonight at AT&T Park, will determine which of the teams is better at this point, but nothing more. Both teams are pretenders, not contenders in the race to the postseason.
The A’s have been a surprise this season, at least in part because they have a solid manager in Bob Melvin and they got back pitching coach Curt Young, who specializes in developing young pitchers, perfect for the A’s who have a new crop of them every year.
