MOST MEMORABLE GAME
The season began with some sensational, down-to-the-wire matchups, including the overall opener, Green Bay's 42-34 win over New Orleans. It's also hard to forget Buffalo's wild 34-31 victory against New England in Week 3, or Detroit's stunning rally for a 34-30 win at Dallas in Week 4.

Mike McCarthy never put a whole lot of stock in a perfect season, except as a means of gaining home-field advantage and setting the Green Bay Packers up for another Super Bowl run.

Tony Romo threw a pair of 8-yard touchdown passes to Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, giving the Dallas Cowboys a 14-0 lead through the first quarter Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Austin's TD midway quarter was set up by Tampa Bay's NFL-leading 32nd turnover, a fumble by Josh Freeman on the fifth play of the game.

Eli Manning and the New York Giants finally have something to show for all their hard work — first place in the NFC East.
On the verge of being knocked to the edge of the playoff chase, Manning led the Giants to two touchdowns in the final 3:14 and Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a field goal as time expired, giving New York a 37-34 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
"Good to get that winning feeling again," Manning said.

Maurice Jones-Drew set a franchise scoring record, interim coach Mel Tucker got his first victory and Jacksonville did something it hadn't done in more than 13 years.
It was a near-perfect day in an otherwise miserable season for the Jaguars.
Jones-Drew scored four times, setting the franchise record for career touchdowns, and the Jaguars scored 41 unanswered points to beat the turnover-prone Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41-14 Sunday.

The NBA's amnesty era is under way.
Taking advantage of the league's new get-out-of-a-contract card, the Orlando Magic waived Gilbert Arenas and the $62 million he was owed over the next three seasons as one of the very first moves after the lockout formally ended, and the New York Knicks were preparing to use the clause on Chauncey Billups — a precursor to adding Tyson Chandler as a free agent from the champion Dallas Mavericks.

Landon Donovan scored in the 72nd minute on passes from Robbie Keane and David Beckham, and the Los Angeles Galaxy's three superstars won their first MLS Cup together with a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night.
Beckham won his first MLS championship in the final game of his groundbreaking five-year contract with the Galaxy, who rolled through the postseason to the franchise's third league title after finishing with MLS' best regular-season record.
