A man was accused of theft and hit over the head with his own hammer in an aggravated assault Tuesday in the mid-Market area, police said.
The 56-year-old victim was accused by another man, 51, of stealing his credit cards in the 800 block of Market Street about 9:40 p.m., police said. The victim dropped his bag and a mallet fell out.

A man was assaulted with a bottle outside a Mission district nightclub early Thursday morning, police said. The 27-year-old was first approached by the two male suspects inside the nightclub in the 3000 block of Mission Street, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. The 24-year-old victim was riding his bike in the unit block of Sixth Street at 1:50 a.m. when he was attacked by three men and one woman, all in their 20s, police said. A man who was asleep in his car was woken up and carjacked by three crooks in the Bayview on Sunday, police said. The 42-year-old victim was parked in the 1200 block of Lane Street about 3 a.m. when one of the crooks opened the door, pulled the victim out and began punching him, police said.
