Japanese-American sculptor Ruth Asawa, 85, is known for designing many of San Francisco’s public fountains but now a school will bear her name as well.San Francisco School of the Arts, The City’s only public arts high school, will unveil a new marquee tomorrow with its new name, Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts. Following a heartfelt meeting Tuesday in which tears were shed by a member on the Board of Education, the board voted to rename San Francisco’s School of the Arts High School the Ruth Asawa San Francisco High School of the Arts.
