AZ inmate arrested for refusing to leave lockup

Most people can't wait to leave jail, but one northern Arizona inmate has been charged with trespassing after refusing to leave the Coconino County lockup. Coconino County Sheriff's Office spokesman Gerry Blair says 44-year-old Martin Batieni Kombate was arrested in Flagstaff last week for trespassing and was scheduled for release Monday on his own recognizance on the charge. Despite telling Occupy SF demonstrators the Police Department had “no future plans to go into the demonstration,” the camp on Tuesday evening received a letter from Chief Greg Suhr saying participants are subject to arrest, according to the group’s website. The letter cites code violations such as overnight camping and using open flames in Justin Herman Plaza, the park the group has taken up residence in since early October. Read More
