Douglas James Burrows, 26, of San Francisco, is accused of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly sicking his leashed mastiff on a 55-year-old man during a broad-daylight attack in the Tenderloin on Sunday. About 4:15 p.m., police said, officers responded to Eddy Street between Larkin and Polk streets and found the victim beaten and suffering from a dog bite on his hand. Patient accused of attacking St. Francis Memorial Hospital nurse

A vicious drunk who was being treated at St. Francis Memorial Hospital for intoxication Friday was arrested after allegedly breaking a nurse’s eye socket. Aleksey Petrov, 51, of San Francisco, is accused of punching the 57-year-old woman, who was treating him at the Nob Hill hospital, at least twice about 8:50 p.m. When staffers heard the commotion, they rushed to the nurse’s aid and called police. Sunnydale gun violence claims another life

Police have increased patrols in the Sunnydale housing projects after a string of horrific gun violence since mid-May that has left three 21-year-olds and one 22-year-old dead. The latest victim, who has not been identified, was fatally shot about 7:20 p.m. Sunday while standing in front of his home in the 1700 block of Sunnydale Avenue, police Officer Albie Esparza said.
