This time of year is hectic, but that doesn’t keep us from pulling off a really big event.
Looking for a school for your child next year? Got questions? Come get them answered at our annual public school enrollment event.
Here are the top five reasons for coming out to the San Francisco Unified School District’s Enrollment Fair on Saturday.
1. Get it all at once
This fair is one-stop shopping. That’s right, all San Francisco’s public schools will be under one roof this weekend. Along with the school tables, we will be hosting workshops to explain transitional kindergarten, language pathways and other program options.
2. Meet new people
The event is packed with principals, teachers, parents and students — all of them ready to tell you what is special about their school. You get the chance to talk parent-to-parent about things you want to know. And, frankly, this is your chance to get to know the people who are part of the schools you’re interested in, not just the numbers.
3. Be surprised
There are so, so many schools you haven’t met yet that may be perfect for your child. Even though the number of “popular” schools in this district has grown a lot over the last several years, we have even more hidden gems for you to discover.
4. Get smart
We know that the SFUSD school application process has a few steps, so of course we’ll have plenty of staff on hand at the fair happy to demystify the process, step by step. The fact is, our system is based on choice, and with that comes a lot of decisions. We’re here to help!
5. Be part of the SFUSD family
I’ve been part of the SFUSD for 16 years and, as interim superintendent now, I am continually amazed at the love, intelligence and hard work I see every day in our schools. And it shows: Our graduation rates and test scores are some of the best in the state.
But wait, there’s more!
We will have workshops so you can learn more about the application and enrollment process for all grades, including transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade.
School tours have begun, look for for each school’s tour schedule on www.sfusd.edu.
