The title character of “Magnum, P.I.” faced some pretty ludicrous villains, but even he would’ve refused the case of the drought desperado.
Still, Magnum himself, Tom Selleck, is being accused of exactly that after a Ventura County water district filed a lawsuit against him this week.
The Calleguas Municipal Water District in Southern California claims the actor and mustache role model has repeatedly tapped a water hydrant to provide water for his Westlake Village avocado ranch. California growers have weathered major water restrictions amid the crushing drought, with the “Blue Bloods” star’s land subject to mandatory cutbacks as high as 36 percent, according to The Associated Press (yes, even the avocados).
The suit claims a truck has repeatedly been seen tapping the hydrant and delivering water to Selleck’s ranch. There was no word on whether the truck driver sported a full, luxurious mustache.
GRANDE INSISTS SHE DOESN’T HATE AMERICA
Ariana Grande loves America: It’s the doughnuts she hates.
The 22-year-old pop singer was forced to make an awkward apology Wednesday after a video of her verbally assaulting fried dough — and the USA — appeared on TMZ on Tuesday. In the clip, filmed at a Southern California doughnut shop, a staff member presents Grande with a tray of freshly fried, glaze-glistened doughnut joy, to which the “Break Free” singer responds, “What the f— is that? I hate Americans. I hate America.”
“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country,” Grande told The Associated Press in a statement, adding that her words expressed frustration at “how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences.”
Grande also said the cancellation of her MLB All-Star Concert on Saturday was not related to her cruelty to crullers, citing recent oral surgery.
Actor Patrick Dempsey paid tribute this week to his onetime co-star Amanda Peterson, who was found dead Sunday at age 43 of undetermined causes. “In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young,” Dempsey tweeted. The pair starred in 1987’s “Can’t Buy Me Love.” … Marisa Tomei is reportedly in talks to play elderly Aunt May in the upcoming “Spider-Man,” which only makes sense if Peter Parker is a toddler in the superhero re-reboot.
