Tim Lincecum spurns Dodgers, reportedly signs with Rangers

Tim Lincecum flirted with the idea of signing with the Dodgers, but will be headed to Texas instead.

The former San Francisco Giants legend was reportedly weighing offers from the Rangers and Los Angeles on Tuesday. But he ultimately chose the former, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.

It was previously reported that Lincecum, who will turn 34 this season, was weighing major-league offers but that the Giants weren’t willing to compete with those offers.

Lincecum dominated the Rangers in Game 5 of the 2010 World Series, when he threw eight innings, allowing one run and striking out 10.

This season will be Lincecum’s second try at competing in the AL West. He struggled mightily with the Los Angeles Angels in 2016 and took last season off.

The Rangers come to the Bay Area for the first time in 2018 with a four-game series at the Coliseum starting April 2.
