Flowers empower kids at Salvation Army floral show in San Francisco

‘Flower Power’ luncheon: On Wednesday at the Sir Francis Drake hotel, the Salvation Army hosted its seventh annual floral design show and lunch. The gathering was a fundraiser for the organization’s “Back 2 School” event, which provides classroom supplies to 1,500 schoolchildren, and for other Salvation Army programs. I hate Christmas,” the 44-year-old grabbed a Salvation Army red kettle filled with about $700 of donated money outside a crowded general store in Maumee, Ohio. When the bell-ringer reportedly tried to take the kettle back, Krieger pushed her down to the ground before driving off with the kettle in a stolen pickup truck. Read More

49ers serve up turkey and all the trimmings

A handful of teammates from the San Francisco 49ers made a brief foray into the food service industry today, serving turkey, dressing, pie and other Thanksgiving staples to residents at the Salvation Army's Railton Place residence. The facility, which is home to a mix of veterans, people who have completed treatment programs, and young adults who aged out of the foster care system, opened in the Tenderloin neighborhood in September 2008. The Schultzes have been big supporters of the organization’s programs and services for low-income and homeless people.
