Three Chihuahuas killed in Hayward mobile home fire

Three Chihuahuas died in a mobile home blaze in Hayward on Friday morning, a fire captain said.The fire was reported at about 8:40 a.m. at a double-wide mobile home located at 1150 W. Winton Ave., Hayward fire Capt. Thor Poulsen said.Firefighters saw smoke coming from the back of the structure and were able to extinguish the fire, which had also spread to the attic of the mobile home, Poulsen said. A Hayward man accused of pimping out his 20-year-old girlfriend on Craigslist was sentenced to a year in San Mateo County jail Monday.Phoenix Fox, 26, pleaded no contest to two felony counts of attempted pimping in connection with his arrest on March 17, 2009. Dumbarton Bridge shut down due to possible suicide attempt

The Dumbarton Bridge is closed because of a possible suicide attempt, according to the California Highway Patrol.Police activity was reported on the bridge for traffic heading east just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.Officer Brian Watkins said the closure of traffic in both directions is because of a person threatening to commit suicide on the span. Man injured when truck drives off San Mateo Bridge into Bay

A truck plunged off the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge on Tuesday morning a quarter of a mile past the toll plaza on the eastern side of the span.The white Ford F-250, which was driving west on the bridge, landed on its roof in about four feet of water just after 10:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to a hospital with abrasions on his arms and head and is expected to survive, said CHP spokesman Officer Art Montiel.
