An apparent gang war in Visitacion Valley is heating up, with three neighborhood men killed in the past two days to bring the total there to eight homicides this year. Sunnydale gun violence claims another life

Police have increased patrols in the Sunnydale housing projects after a string of horrific gun violence since mid-May that has left three 21-year-olds and one 22-year-old dead. The latest victim, who has not been identified, was fatally shot about 7:20 p.m. Sunday while standing in front of his home in the 1700 block of Sunnydale Avenue, police Officer Albie Esparza said. The victim of a window-smash burglary Tuesday in the Sunnydale housing projects told police only one item was missing from her home — a library card, police said.The woman called police after arriving at her home in the 100 block of Blythdale Avenue about 3 p.m. and discovering that a burglar had smashed her window.“The only thing missing from inside was the victim’s library card,” police at Ingleside Station said.There has been no arrest.
