Bartender Shanti Deluca came up with the ginger- and marjoram-infused Bees in a Pram cocktail for the Cocktail World Cup competition in February. As summer foot traffic swarms The City’s waterfront, Ferry Building officials are opening seven new “shoplets” in the upscale marketplace they say contributes to the building’s sustainable, artisanal theme. All the new kiosks are slated to be up and running by Tuesday, and a few are already open, including gluten-free Mariposa Baking Co., the vegan Pepples Donuts and Benedetta Holistic Skin Care. Parking at Ferry Plaza nixed

Merchants in the Ferry Building Marketplace fear their businesses will suffer after plans were dumped to add parking spaces to the adjacent plaza. As The Examiner reported in December, the Port of San Francisco planned to add 65 spaces to the Ferry Plaza for six years to raise funds for an $879,000 plaza improvement project. But the proposal was dumped following strong community opposition to use of the site for parking, according to Port waterfront planner Jonathan Stern. Read More
