No charges filed as police probe bike lock assault on Fillmore

The case against two 21-year-old men who were accused of assaulting an older man with a bike lock at a Geary Boulevard bus stop has been discharged pending further investigation, prosecutors said Wednesday. Samuel Broaddus of San Francisco and Raymond Sullivan of Berkeley were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the 2:30 a.m. Monday attack at the Fillmore Street bus stop. Cab takes credit cards, doesn’t give them back

A cabdriver who takes credit cards? In this case, it wasn’t for payment. After arguing over fare payment at Hayes and Fillmore streets about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a cabbie assaulted and robbed a passenger, police said. The 30-year-old male victim was reportedly held at knifepoint before the driver robbed him of a cellphone and credit card, police said. The cabbie fled and no arrest has been made. Read More

San Francisco firefighters battling blaze in Lower Haight

Firefighters continue to battle a fire that has grown to four alarms in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood.The blaze was reported at 4:08 p.m. at a three-story building on the corner of Haight and Fillmore streets.No injuries have been reported, a fire dispatcher said. Flames and smoke were no longer visible as of 5:45 p.m., but firefighters are still on the scene putting out hot spots, according to fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge. Read More
