Fire above Bayview church displaces 23 people

A fire in a single-room occupancy unit in the Bayview neighborhood displaced 23 people Saturday afternoon. The fire broke out at about 3 p.m. Saturday at 5122 Third St., between Revere and Shafter avenues, in a room on the top floor of the three-story building, according to Assistant Fire Chief Dave Franklin. Man hospitalized after shooting in Bayview District

A man shot in the neck in San Francisco's Bayview District was hospitalized early this morning, police said. Officers responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Third Street and Palou Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., police said.  The victim was sitting in his car when three suspects approached the vehicle, police said. Good Samaritans tackled a cellphone snatcher who pulled her victim’s hair during the South of Market heist Tuesday, police said.Police said the suspect crept up behind a 31-year-old woman, grabbed her hair and swiped her cellphone at Third and Harrison streets around 7 p.m.Two witnesses chased down and tackled the suspect, a 19-year-old woman.Cops subsequently arrested the woman, police said. A 20-year-old woman refused to play ball with cops after being stabbed three times with a pair of scissors in the Bayview district Tuesday, police said.The woman was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the vicious scissor attack at Third Street and La Salle Avenue around 7:40 p.m.The victim was “uncooperative with officers.” Police say the suspect is a woman in her 30s.
