Thieves allegedly beat and choked the manager of a Salvation Army store in South San Francisco on Wednesday after he caught them shoplifting.
One suspect, identified Thursday as 43-year-old Mark McCawley, was arrested and booked on multiple charges in connection with the afternoon melee at the store at 1170 Mission Road.

Two goons used a gun to rob a man of $41 in a South San Francisco parking lot Wednesday morning, police said.
About 5:15 a.m., police said, the suspects forced the victim out of his car in a parking lot in the first block of Airport Boulevard. One brandished a gun and demanded his wallet, police said, while the other took the cash from it.
