A Mill Valley woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after striking and critically injuring a pedestrian in San Francisco's Richmond District on Saturday night, a police spokesman said.
The accident was reported at Fulton Street and 20th Avenue at 10:01 p.m. Saturday.
A 40-year-old woman was crossing Fulton Street in a crosswalk when she was hit by a silver Volkswagen Passat traveling east, police said.

Six San Francisco motorcycle officers will patrol the streets around Candlestick Park during and after Sunday's football game.The patrols, targeting careless and impaired drivers, will begin at halftime during the San Francisco 49ers game against the Seattle Seahawks, and continue until the parking lots and stadium are empty. A volunteer firefighter was charged with a DUI after allegedly running a sheriff’s deputy off the road in a Fire Department vehicle in Hamilton, Va. Sean Swanson, 27, and four other passengers in the pumper truck — all of them volunteers — were found to have been drinking and were forced to resign. Stephen Supers, 25, of Elyria, Ohio, was pulled over for speeding and asked by the police officer if he had been drinking. Allegedly, Supers responded by taking a swig from an open can of beer and saying, “Yes.” He then reportedly failed a series of field sobriety tests and is scheduled to face several charges — including marijuana possession — in court next week.
