Mission anarchists gone mild with online confession of vandalism

An anarchist group apparently bent on stopping gentrification in the Mission district claimed responsibility for vandalizing cars and businesses in the neighborhood early Wednesday. Police said symbols associated with anarchy were reportedly scrawled on at least one building, one restaurant and one car. The graffiti was reported in the 500 block of Guerrero Street, along with the 700 and 200 blocks of Valencia Street, Officer Albie Esparza said. Read More

Some 300 people gathered in Civic Center Plaza on Thursday afternoon to demand that California tax the rich to pay for education, as school districts and public colleges prepare for another year of cuts and layoffs. Rally occupies Bank of America branch in San Francisco

Police arrested 95 protesters who stormed a downtown Bank of America branch Wednesday afternoon after putting up tents in the building — and urinating in a corner. No injuries were reported, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. Many at the bank Wednesday were students who said paying for public education was “theft” and it’s wrong for the California State University and University of California systems to raise tuition and fees.
