San Mateo County chief elections officer Warren Slocum is opening his office to let the public observe ballot counting for the Burlingame School District all-mail special election. The election, which closes Tuesday, is for a $180 parcel tax that will last 10 years. The California Elections Code allows jurisdictions to begin processing vote-by-mail ballots seven business days before the election closes. Ballot counts cannot be released until 8 p.m. Election Day.
