Thurgood Marshall Phoenix basketball team rise to the occasion in final quarter

Down seven points with 5:13 left in the game, it seemed Thurgood Marshall was exhausted and out of gas. But the Phoenix (16-12) went on a 14-0 run over the next four minutes, and hung on for a 52-47 victory over Lincoln High School to advance to the Academic Athletic Association championship. Lincoln, Mission boys' basketball teams go at it after ups and downs in nonleague play

Despite underwhelming nonleague records, Mission High School and Lincoln High School are still the favorites to advance to the Academic Athletic Association boys’ basketball championship game, and we’ll get a possible preview of the title game Friday. Washington set to defend AAA football title

On the strength of two second-half turnovers by Lincoln High School, Washington High overcame a three-point halftime deficit to advance to its second consecutive Turkey Bowl with a hard-earned 21-10 victory on Thursday. “I tell the guys all the time that nothing is going to be easy, and I told them at halftime we didn’t really need to fix anything other than to just play harder,” Washington coach Karl Finley said. Lowell soccer team completes run to second straight AAA title

So many of Lowell High School’s wins in the past two seasons have been blowouts, but the Cardinals were pushed to the brink again in the Academic Athletic Association boys’ soccer championship game on Saturday.
