Authorities on Friday released the name of a man found dead under what police called suspicious circumstances last month in a Tenderloin hotel in San Francisco, in the hope that the man's family might contact them.
The man, 56-year-old Fidencio Salazar Jr., of San Francisco, was found dead of a stab wound about 2 a.m. on Aug. 15 inside a hotel at Eighth and Market streets, according to police.

A San Francisco couple accused in connection with the December death of their housemate will stand trial on charges of murder and accessory to murder, a San Francisco Superior Court judge ruled today.
Judge Robert Dondero found that evidence presented by prosecutors at the preliminary hearing of Richard Carelli and Michele Pinkerton, both 38, was sufficient to show "probable cause" in the Dec. 22 death of 49-year-old Leonard Milo Hoskins at their Mission Terrace home.

A 7-year-old boy standing in his family's San Bruno store Tuesday night was nearly snatched by two men before his father and uncle intervened, San Bruno police Cmdr. Noreen Hanlon said today.
The boy was with his father and uncle in Sam's Food Mart, the business they own at 899 San Mateo Ave., Hanlon said. Two men in their 20s entered the store around 8:20 p.m. and grabbed the boy, bringing him with them as they backed toward the exit.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is trying to locate a teenage boy who stabbed another male in unincorporated Redwood City on Monday evening, a sheriff's spokesman said today.
The stabbing happened around 6 p.m. in the 2700 block of Blenheim Avenue in North Fair Oaks, sheriff's spokesman Ray Lunny said.
The victim suffered four stab wounds to his neck and face and was taken to a hospital, Lunny said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
