Police say gunmen from a radical Islamist sect have attacked another police station, killing one officer in a north Nigeria city where they killed 185 people last week.
Kano state police spokesman Magaji Musa Majiya said the shooting happened Friday in the capital Kano, a city of more than 9 million people already under siege by the sect known as Boko Haram. He said officers killed three sect members in the attack, but others dragged the bodies away.

A suspected Naga rebel opened fire at a police station packed with voters on a tense election day Saturday in northeast India, killing four people before he was shot dead, police said.
The gunman lined up with other voters outside but pulled out a revolver once he entered the building and began shooting indiscriminately, said Priyo Kumar Singh, police superintendent for Chandel district in the state of Manipur.

Authorities say a suspected burglar was hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot by a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy inside a coffee shop.

New York's police commissioner says a film that critics say paints Muslims in a bad light wasn't officially approved for NYPD training.
At a news conference Friday, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly called the movie "The Third Jihad" inflammatory. But he said it was shown by mistake in a side room of a training center.
He also defended the NYPD's record with the city's Muslim community. He called the relationship "excellent."
