Passengers departing out of San Francisco International Airport for foreign locales will soon be paying a little extra to keep their cars at the hub. Overnight parking rates at SFO’s international garage are set to increase by 20 percent — from $20 to $24 — starting next year. San Francisco council’s vote raises questions about cab credit card fees

Credit card fees for taxi drivers, an issue that has led to protests and threats of strikes, might be lessened or eliminated. On Monday, the Taxi Advisory Council recommended ending a pilot program allowing cab companies to charge drivers a 5 percent credit card transaction fee. Increased fees for nonresidents playing the prized greens of Harding Park Golf Course are not enough to bring operations out of the red, but the PGA Tour could bring relief. Nonresidents are expected to start paying $15 more to hit the links at Harding Park. Weekday rates will increase from $135 to $150 and weekend rates from $155 to $170, which is about a 10 percent increase. Read More

A series of parking fee and fine increases will take effect today, including a $20 hike for The City’s residential parking permits. The residential parking permits, available to San Francisco residents in neighborhoods without strong commercial presences, will increase from $76 to $96, a move that was approved in February by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. The $20 increase means that since 2008, the cost has gone up by 60 percent, from $60 to $96. Read More
