It’s been hella hot outside, but the heat wave is over.
In San Francisco, temperatures soared into the high 70s on Monday and Tuesday, but a cooling pattern today is expected to bring more typical weather for November, with rain possible.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in The City today will peak in the mid-60s — a whopping 20 degrees lower than the start of the week. By Thursday, rain is even forecasted.

The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning Thursday afternoon and evening, with swells of up to 15 feet along the Peninsula coast and breaking waves as high as 20 feet on local beaches. The high waves fueled speculation the Mavericks Invitational surf contest might happen soon. The Half Moon Bay competition could occur anytime within a three-month window that began this month, with surfers given 24 hours of notice.

The remaining 208 customers without power this morning in North Richmond were expected to have their power restored by 6:30 a.m. after ten of thousands of customers were in the dark since 11:15 p.m. Friday night, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
More than 28,000 customers in Richmond were in the dark overnight because of a transmission outage, spokeswoman Jana Morris said. A majority of customers had power restored by 5 a.m. this morning.

A winter storm blasted the Pacific Northwest Wednesday, dumping near-record snow in some areas, hammering parts of Oregon with winds as high as 110 mph and bringing much of the region to a standstill.
From the Washington state capital in Olympia to the Oregon coast, schools were closed, roads were clogged with snow and hundreds of accidents and dozens of flights were cancelled.

Seattle, a city more accustomed to rain than snow, prepared for a potentially major snow storm to hit Wednesday as the city's mayor urged residents to stay off roads and school officials prepared for the worst.
