San Francisco may be known for being a “green” city, but it’s having trouble maintaining its street trees. The Public Works Departments wants private property owners to help out, by transferring the care of 24,000 street trees over to private property owners. Update 4:04 p.m. Wednesday: Just received word from the Department of Public Works that the names of Cabrillo Street and 46th Avenue have been switched. The sidewalks on Cabrillo Street and 46th Avenue have now been corrected to say the right names.
The Department of Public Works will team up with Caltrans and various community organizations on Wednesday to unveil a new street park on Sixth Street.
The new street park will be located on Sixth Street, between Brannan and Bluxome streets, and is part of an initiative to keep busy city gateways clean and green, according to DPW documents.
The unveiling of the park will happen at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the new site on Sixth Street. Read More
