Crafty crooks posing as construction workers locked a 56-year-old Glen Park woman out of her own home Tuesday during a coordinated burglary, according to police.
About 10:50 a.m., the woman reportedly called police saying a man toting a handheld radio had knocked on her door in the 100 block of Charles Street, a residential area just west of San Jose Avenue.
“He looked like a construction worker,” police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

A determined driver who unsuccessfully attempted to stop his car from being towed when it was already hooked up to a tow truck ended
up being arrested on vandalism charges.
A Department of Parking and Traffic employee was called to Natick Street, a narrow street just north of the Glen Park BART station, around 9 p.m. Nov. 18 on a report that the Audi was blocking traffic. The employee cited the vehicle and summoned a tow truck.

A man tried to set a Glen Park business on fire early Tuesday morning by stuffing newspapers into the business’s mail slot in the 2900 block of Diamond Street about 3 a.m. before setting them ablaze, police said.

Police are asking BART riders who have had cellphones stolen recently to come forward after two boys, ages 14 and 17, were arrested July 18 on robbery charges.
The teens allegedly grabbed an iPhone from a BART passenger at the Balboa Park station and fled. The victim and two other people gave chase, but one of the helpers was pepper-sprayed by one of the youths, police said. However, with the help of a third person, San Francisco police officers were able to catch the teens.

A 53-year-old woman was brutally attacked and robbed by two goons in Glen Park on Tuesday, cops said. The victim was walking in the 100 block of Brompton Avenue around 9:45 p.m. when she was tackled by two goons, described by police as men in their 20s. One of the thugs punched her in the face and took her purse, wallet, keys, cellphone and cash, police said. The hoodlums fled in a red four-door vehicle.

A 71-year-old woman was robbed of a pendant from her necklace in Mission Terrace, one of four separate robberies by force Monday, cops said. There have been no arrests. The woman was accosted by a 25-year-old man in the 4600 block of Mission Street around 2:15 p.m., police said. The suspect grabbed the victim’s necklace, ripped the pendant off and fled. The woman was treated at the scene for her injuries, which were not life threatening.
