A driver accused of plowing a stolen vehicle into a pedestrian who was headed to a church Christmas event in South San Francisco on Dec. 19 pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this week. Michael John Weiler, 27, who lives in his girlfriend’s South City home, had reportedly been driving a stolen truck when he struck and injured a man who had just gotten out of his car near All Souls Catholic Church on Walnut Avenue. These alleged meth heads suddenly lost their need for speed — and that couldn’t have come at a worse time. San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies made two arrests just north of Half Moon Bay on Saturday after they were called about a vehicle that was blocking a driveway on San Mateo Road, which doubles as state Highway 92 in that area. FedEx packages implicate drug-smuggling suspect

A Redwood City man was arrested last week after allegedly trying to ship 100 grams of cocaine and 3 kilos of methamphetamine to the Philippines, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. Gabriel Uribe-Bautista was arrested after returning to a FedEx store to inquire about why the two packages he had sent Aug. 24 did not arrive at their destination. He is in custody on $4,025,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday. Read More

Armed transient may have targeted family member

The homeless man who in July was allegedly found near Golden Gate Park with an arsenal of weapons and ammo in his vehicle intended to harm a family member, police said Wednesday. Also found in Robert Johns’ Jeep Cherokee was a card listing the names and titles of U.S. politicians, but police do not know if the 37-year-old was targeting any of them. Read More

Feds indict nine in Tenderloin drug crackdown

Nine alleged drug dealers have been indicted by a federal grand jury after an almost yearlong undercover operation targeting the Tenderloin narcotics market. Dubbed "Operation Deep Water," the busts occurred between December 2009 and August 2010, around the same time that San Francisco Police under then-Chief George Gascón conducted their own crackdown on drug dealing in the area.
