Manslaughter sentences for cop-killer's accomplices

Steven Petrilli, 24, has already been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the July 26, 2006 killing of San Francisco Police Department Officer Nick-Tomasito Birco. Petrilli had been fleeing police in a stolen van after committing four robberies in The City when he struck Birco’s patrol car. Birco was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Unknown thug stabs man and flees

A 32-year-old man was stabbed and searched Thursday, but the assailant didn't take anything, police said. An unknown suspect approached the man at 5th and Market streets around 3:30 a.m. and stabbed him with an unknown weapon, cops said. The suspect then went through the victims pockets but didn’t take anything, police said. The suspect fled on foot. The victim was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
