San Francisco police reportedly arrested a man Monday morning who was at a pawn shop trying to sell two computers labeled as San Francisco State University property following a break-in at the school recently. The Humanities Building at SFSU was broken into over the weekend and two iMac computers were stolen, school spokeswoman Ellen Griffin said. There was broken glass and damage to some windows and the room where the two computers were stolen.

As if cruelly beating two adult dogs and stealing their young puppies wasn’t bad enough, a possible suspect in a Bayview burglary last week later called the victimized homeowner wanting to sell her own pups back to her, police said.Police are hoping a member of the public can help them track down whoever is responsible for the heartless crime.On Tuesday, someone broke into a home in the 100 block of Cameron Way between 9 a.m. and noon and ransacked the place, police said.

A painting contractor who had a number of contracts to work on San Francisco city and school projects is facing charges that she cheated her employees out of more than $600,000 in wages.
Frances Ann Doherty was charged Friday with 57 counts including wage theft, workers' compensation insurance premium fraud and other charges, said San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon.

Los Angeles police say an LAPD detective has been arrested for investigation of grand theft.
An LAPD statement says Ramon Alvarez, a 25-year department veteran, was arrested Friday after a fellow detective reported he spotted Alvarez taking money from a drug bust in Los Angeles.
A search was conducted on Alvarez' vehicle, where a quantity of money was found.

Police say a St. Louis woman who allegedly robbed an officer who responded to her call for help was caught when she used his bank card a short time later.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/xlPQHR) that the woman told police early Friday that her boyfriend had stolen her keys. So officers who responded to the call took her to his home, leaving her in their cruiser while they went inside.

Authorities say a suspected burglar was hospitalized with serious injuries after being shot by a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy inside a coffee shop.
