Woman robbed of $10,000 in broad daylight in South City

A woman was robbed of more than $10,000 after cashing a check at a bank in South San Francisco on Saturday, police said. The woman was robbed as she walked on  El Camino Real toward Southwood Drive about 4:15 p.m. The crook leaped out of a van, pushed her to the ground and then grabbed her backpack with the cash. He then pointed a gun at her and told her not to call the police or he would kill her, police said. He fled in the van south on El Camino Real. Read More

Daly City man accused of harassing young boys sent to mental hospital

A Daly City man accused of asking young boys to show their boxer shorts inside the bathroom of a public library is headed to a mental hospital, prosecutors said Monday.Videl Alexander Mezquita, 20, was found not competent to stand trial on Friday in connection with separate occasions last summer in which he allegedly bothered — but never touched — the boys, ages 11 and 12 years old, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. PG&E is investigating a power outage that affected more than 22,000 customers in San Francisco, South San Francisco and Daly City this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.The outage began at around 11 a.m. and disrupted power to homes and businesses in northern San Mateo County and southern San Francisco, including the Lake Merced neighborhood and the San Francisco State University campus, PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers said. A 14-year-old boy was killed and another wounded in a shooting in South San Francisco on Sunday night, a police sergeant said today.The two boys were standing with a third teenager in the 600 block of First Lane at about 8:50 p.m., when as many as four suspects drove up in a black 2004 or 2005 four-door Honda Civic or Accord, South San Francisco police Sgt. Man possibly in disguise robs South City bank, flees with cash

A bank was robbed late Thursday morning in South San Francisco when a man gave a teller a note demanding money and said he had a gun, according to police.The suspect, who may have been in disguise, entered the bank in the 300 block of Grand Avenue around 11:30 a.m. and gave a teller a note saying he was armed and that he wanted money from the teller drawers, police said.
