A 19-year-old man was found guilty by a jury Thursday of fatally shooting a man during a 2008 pot robbery in South San Francisco, prosecutors said.Jimmy Nabong was found guilty of all charges against him, including first-degree murder, murder during a robbery, and use of a firearm, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. County seeks compensation for stormwater efforts

San Mateo County and its 20 cities are challenging state requirements designed to reduce stormwater pollution, saying the state should have given the local governments funding to comply with the stricter rules. Local officials say they will have to hire extra staff, buy equipment and take other steps in order to be in line with a regional stormwater permit approved in October 2009 by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board. Peninsula cities flip on new LED streetlamps

Cities throughout San Mateo County are seeing the light a bit differently.After Foster City retrofitted some of its traditional high-pressure sodium vapor streetlights to more energy-efficient LED lamps through federal stimulus funding last week, several other San Mateo County cities are planning to do the same. San Mateo County Supervisor Adrienne Tissier has been named head of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, the regional group in charge of shaping the Bay Area’s long-term transportation policies. Redwood City man killed in big rig accident on Highway 92

A 68-year-old Redwood City man was killed Wednesday afternoon after his vehicle crossed a highway line and crashed in to a big rig in San Mateo County. Daly City couple arrested by SWAT team pleads not guilty to gun charges

A couple involved in a six-hour standoff with a SWAT team in Daly City on Monday pleaded not guilty to gun charges in San Mateo County Superior Court this afternoon.Daly City resident Joseph Camilleri, 29 and his girlfriend Anna Tostanoski, 25, have each been charged with 12 counts of possession of illegal firearms and one count of firing a gun out of a building, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said. Man accused of killing pedestrian in Pacifica pleads not guilty to DUI charges

A San Bruno man accused of fatally striking a pedestrian in Pacifica on Sunday pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon to charges that include driving under the influence, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. Highway 1 closed in both directions following potentially fatal crash

U.S. Highway 1 has been shut down in both directions tonight following a potentially fatal crash in Pescadero in unincorporated San Mateo County, a California Highway Patrol officer said.The coroner was en route at about 7:10 p.m. to the scene of the two-vehicle crash in response to one possible fatality, Officer Ralph Caggiano said.The crash was reported at about 6:50 p.m. at Rossi Road.
