A Marin County man is recovering at home after being attacked by a mountain lion in the Sierra Nevada foothills early Sunday morning.
The 63-year-old man, who does not want to be identified for now, was in a sleeping bag on a sandbar along a tributary of the Yuba River near Nevada City when he was attacked around 1 a.m. Sunday, California Department of Fish and Game spokesman Patrick Foy said. Read More
A mountain lion was spotted in a residential neighborhood in Woodside on Sunday evening, San Mateo County emergency officials said Monday.
The cat was seen in the area of 350 Jane Road at about 7:15 p.m.

A mountain lion was spotted lying on the front lawn of a home in Woodside on Tuesday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.At approximately 9:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from a resident in the 100 block of Otis Street who was reporting that a 150- to 200-pound cougar was lying on his front lawn, police said.Deputies arrived and saw the mountain lion lounging on the hillside near the home, according to police. Authorities shot and killed a mountain lion that they cornered in a backyard after it wandered into a Redwood City neighborhood Tuesday morning.Police received a report at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday of a mountain lion in the area of Alameda de las Pulgas and Whipple Avenue, according to a city press release. A mountain lion was spotted this morning in the Highlands neighborhood of unincorporated San Mateo County, emergency officials said today.
The animal was seen at about 9:05 a.m. behind a home at 116 CSM Drive and appeared to be heading toward the Crystal Springs area.

A mountain lion was shot and killed by Berkeley police early this morning after they were unable to chase the cat out of a residential neighborhood, police said.
No one was injured by the animal, which led police and wildlife officials on a chase through commercial parking lots and backyards before it was killed.
