A Marin County man is recovering at home after being attacked by a mountain lion in the Sierra Nevada foothills early Sunday morning.
The 63-year-old man, who does not want to be identified for now, was in a sleeping bag on a sandbar along a tributary of the Yuba River near Nevada City when he was attacked around 1 a.m. Sunday, California Department of Fish and Game spokesman Patrick Foy said.

A mountain lion was spotted in a residential neighborhood in Woodside on Sunday evening, San Mateo County emergency officials said Monday.
The cat was seen in the area of 350 Jane Road at about 7:15 p.m.

A mountain lion was spotted lying on the front lawn of a home in Woodside on Tuesday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.At approximately 9:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from a resident in the 100 block of Otis Street who was reporting that a 150- to 200-pound cougar was lying on his front lawn, police said.Deputies arrived and saw the mountain lion lounging on the hillside near the home, according to police.

Authorities shot and killed a mountain lion that they cornered in a backyard after it wandered into a Redwood City neighborhood Tuesday morning.Police received a report at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday of a mountain lion in the area of Alameda de las Pulgas and Whipple Avenue, according to a city press release. A mountain lion was spotted this morning in the Highlands neighborhood of unincorporated San Mateo County, emergency officials said today.
The animal was seen at about 9:05 a.m. behind a home at 116 CSM Drive and appeared to be heading toward the Crystal Springs area.
Residents are advised to not approach mountain lions, and to try to appear large and make noise if one is nearby. The cats are most active at dawn, dusk and night.

A mountain lion was shot and killed by Berkeley police early this morning after they were unable to chase the cat out of a residential neighborhood, police said.
No one was injured by the animal, which led police and wildlife officials on a chase through commercial parking lots and backyards before it was killed.
A resident reported the cat to the Berkeley police and fire departments this morning at about 2:13 a.m., Berkeley police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss said.
