Why: The 23-year-old victim was in the back seat of a car that was dropping someone off on Watchman Way early Sunday morning when he was shot. The man died Tuesday morning at a hospital. It was the 20th homicide of the year in San Francisco.

A teenage boy was killed and another teen and adult were injured in a shooting Friday night in the Bayview district, police Sgt. Daryl Fong said Monday. The victim was identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Jaquan Morton, 17, of San Francisco. Morton was with two other people in the 1200 block of Griffith Street near Palou Avenue about 8:46 p.m. when all three were fired upon by unknown gunmen, Fong said.

As budget season warms up, police Chief Greg Suhr is warning that The City’s low homicide rate could grow if more officers are not put on the streets.The Police Department’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year has increased to $480 million, Suhr told the Board of Supervisors budget committee last week.
