A man collapsed while running in the 101st Zazzle Bay to Breakers race Sunday.
About 8 a.m., the man went down at Hayes and Laguna streets, according to racers running beside him. One participant said he did not notice the man before he collapsed and could not say whether the man was struggling during the run.
That same participant stopped racing to help the man, holding up his neck while another runner summoned police. The Fire Department also responded to the scene.

A new federal report on last year’s hillside house fire in Diamond Heights that killed two firefighters noted the steep landscape, ineffective analysis of the situation and poor communication among responders as contributing factors to the fatalities.
The June 2, 2011, fire at 133 Berkeley Way killed Lt. Vincent Perez, 48, and firefighter-paramedic Anthony Valerio, 53. The Fire Department had determined the cause of the blaze to be accidental.

A San Francisco fire truck was involved in a crash while en route to a non-fire-related call, according to a dispatcher.
About 3:20 p.m. Thursday, the fire truck collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Fourth and Townsend streets. No injuries were reported.
