The Sacred Heart Cathedral boys’ basketball team sleepwalked through the first half against rival St. Ignatius on Tuesday and still took a seven-point lead into the break. Then the Big Two woke up. San Francisco school closes due to outbreak of stomach flu

An outbreak of the stomach flu prompted the closure of a private high school in the Sunset district Wednesday for deep cleaning of the campus.St. Ignatius College Preparatory School officials announced the closure after an estimated 50 students called in sick Tuesday and another 90 kids were sent home from school, according to a letter from Principal Patrick Ruff that was posted on the school’s website. Sacred Heart Cathedral tops Serra in WCAL opener

The Sacred Heart Cathedral boys’ basketball team remained undefeated Tuesday night, defeating Serra High School 67-56 in the West Catholic Athletic League opener for both teams. Irish senior Taylor Johns led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, helping Sacred Heart Cathedral improve to 10-0 on the season.
