Car involved in fatal crash was stunt driving in Bayview

A young man accused of leaving the scene of a crash that killed his friend in the Bayview district Friday had been spinning doughnuts with his car prior to the accident, prosecutors said. Daniel Lara, 18, of San Francisco appeared in court Wednesday on five felony counts related to the crash that claimed the life of 19-year-old Eduardo Perez, who died in his brother’s arms at the scene, authorities said. Bail was set at $900,000, and Lara is expected to enter a plea Friday. Read More

Bay Bridge shutdown caused by man suspected of shooting at cops after crash

A parolee suspected of being drunk allegedly caused Thursday morning’s commute nightmare on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge after he crashed his car and shot off a gun during a failed attempt to flee from cops. At 1:34 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported, 29-year-old Oakland felon Antonio Roberson — who’s been convicted of human trafficking — was heading east when he crashed his 1984 Cadillac Eldorado into the guardrail near the S-curve. Coco Crisp burned his former team for the second day in a row. The outfielder tripled and scored the tie-breaking run in the seventh inning of the A’s 3-2 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday at the Coliseum. A night earlier, Crisp drove in two of the A’s three runs, including the game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth. Raiders' Ben Davidson was a true class act

Ben Davidson, who died Tuesday, was a true original. Davidson came to the Raiders in 1966, after brief stints with the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins. Al Davis was a good judge of talent at that point and he realized that all Ben needed was a chance. He was relentless as a defensive end, playing as hard on the last snap of the game as the first.
