Jim Harbaugh didn’t spend any time wallowing Monday after the most lopsided loss in his two seasons as coach of the 49ers.
He has only three days to prepare his team for Thursday’s key NFC West game against Seattle, which is tied with the 49ers and Arizona Cardinals at 4-2, and he might have to do it without the services of Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Staley.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The San Francisco 49ers are everything Rex Ryan wishes his New York Jets were.
San Francisco used a solid running game, a smothering defense, a little bit of the wildcat-style offense and even blocked a punt to cruise to a 34-0 victory Sunday.

The 49ers completed their first week of training camp without major issues or significant injuries. However, red-zone inefficiency on offense continued and a clear option at backup quarterback failed to emerge. The 49ers scored points in the red zone on 50 of their 54 drives inside the opponents’ 20 last season, but only 22 of those scores were touchdowns. The 40.7 touchdown-conversion rate ranked third-worst in the league.

The 49ers’ pick of Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins in the first round Thursday night demonstrated conclusively what they felt their biggest need was.
And this after they’d already signed Randy Moss and Mario Manningham as free agents. Michael Crabtree had better check his ego at the door and start working hard at running his patterns or he might find himself on the practice squad.
