New painted lines and explanatory signs have been added to the east sidewalk of the Golden Gate Bridge to help ease congestion brought on by the recent closure of the western walkway. The Golden Gate Bridge district opted to delay action Thursday on a proposed 10 mph bike speed limit on the span, following backlash from cyclists.Although a yearlong study on bike and pedestrian patterns on the bridge found no significant safety concerns, district officials recommended imposing the speed limit with a $100 fine for violators that is likely to be much higher when other fees are imposed. BART could authorize the expansion of its electronic bike locker program Thursday.In 2007, the agency began its BikeLink program, which allowed passengers to park their bikes for longer periods of times at BART stations. Deputy pleads not guilty in road deaths of two bicyclists

A Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputy charged with hitting and killing two Bay Area competitive bicyclists  with his car in March pleaded not guilty Monday.
