Highway 1 closed in both directions following potentially fatal crash

U.S. Highway 1 has been shut down in both directions tonight following a potentially fatal crash in Pescadero in unincorporated San Mateo County, a California Highway Patrol officer said.The coroner was en route at about 7:10 p.m. to the scene of the two-vehicle crash in response to one possible fatality, Officer Ralph Caggiano said.The crash was reported at about 6:50 p.m. at Rossi Road. Caltrans completes excavation of Devil’s Slide tunnels

Caltrans crews have finished excavation work on two tunnels on the San Mateo County coast that will allow motorists to bypass Devil’s Slide on state Highway 1 beginning next year.More than 314,000 cubic yards of soil, clay and rock has been removed during excavation of the two tunnels, which run beneath San Pedro Mountain just south of Pacifica, Caltrans District 4 Director Bijan Sartipi said.The tunnels are each 30 feet wide and about 4,200 feet long. Highway 1 reopens near Devil’s Slide following mudslide

All lanes of traffic are once again open Wednesday on state Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide after heavy rains overnight triggered a mudslide, a California Highway Patrol officer said.The mudslide was reported to the CHP at 10:34 p.m., and arriving officers found a mass of mud about 100 feet wide blocking the roadway, CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said. Accident snarls Highway 1 at Devil's Slide

A traffic accident on Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide is causing delays, according to police. At 6:57 a.m., police received reports of an overturned vehicle on the road between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay.  While ambulances were en route to the scene, the man driving the vehicle was able to free himself from the burning car, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
