A woman allegedly ran a red light and hit a San Francisco police car Sunday, injuring an officer in the South of Market neighborhood.The collision at the intersection of Fifth and Brannan streets occurred at about 2:45 p.m., police said. Alleged copper thief gets coppers’ attention in SoMa

A man was arrested on suspicion of copper theft in South of Market on Saturday, police said Tuesday. Michael David O’Keefe, 55, was apprehended about 5:30 a.m. after he was seen running from an open PG&E manhole in the 1600 block of Folsom Street, police said. He was reportedly found with high-voltage copper wires estimated to be worth about $90. Police also detained a second suspect. Read More

Man slashed by intruder while watching TV

A man was attacked in his own apartment in the South of Market area Tuesday, police said. The 52-year-old victim was watching TV in his apartment in the unit block of 12th Street about 10:50 p.m. when a man in his 30s kicked open his front door, police said. The creep brandished a knife and cut the victim several times before fleeing on foot, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening. Read More
