Grieving loved ones are asking San Francisco to remember that a cold-blooded killer remains on the loose.
Nearly a year ago, Ronald Monzon was gunned down in the Mission district after a fight that reportedly did not involve him.
“The person responsible is free to do what they like, while we are left with memories and visits to Ronald’s grave site,” said Michell McKnight, the mother of Monzon’s teenage son.

The parolee who was shot by an officer in the Mission district Thursday had apparently been planning to commit a gang-related killing that very night, police Chief Greg Suhr said Monday.
Known Norteño gangster Oliver Barcenas was shot by a plainclothes officer at 14th and Minna streets after he reportedly raised a TEC-9 gun at the cop. The nonfatal incident sparked two nights of protests in the Mission, including vandalism reportedly done by anarchists outraged at the SFPD.

Secret recordings made by an alleged MS-13 gang member turned snitch can be used by state prosecutors at a hearing for two other alleged gang members accused of knifing a 14-year-old boy to death in 2008, a judge has ruled.

Three suspected Norteño gang members were convicted in a Mission district robbery recently, according to the District Attorney’s Office. Tyree Johnson, 20, Vincent Rivera, 18, and Kevin Gonzalez, 26, were found guilty of committing robbery for the benefit of a criminal street gang. Rivera was found guilty of committing an assault with a deadly weapon and was also convicted of possessing crack cocaine for purposes of sale.
