Detailed plans are set to be revealed within three weeks, and a groundbreaking is scheduled for early next year on a mixed-use project to revitalize the 87-year-old theater at Geary Boulevard and 18th Avenue that was closed six years ago and has since been left to rot in the bustling commercial corridor, Supervisor Eric Mar said Sunday.

Richmond police are investigating a homicide Friday morning after a woman's body was found on a sidewalk near a school, according to a police spokeswoman.
The body was found just before 7 a.m. in the 1600 block of Visalia Avenue, near Cesar Chavez Elementary School, police Sgt. Bisa French said.
The victim appears to have been shot, French said. Police believe she was a Hispanic woman in her early 20s.

Two teens were injured in a shooting inside a Richmond church this afternoon, a police sergeant said.
Witnesses said three male suspects entered the New Gethsemane Church of God In Christ Inc. at 2100 Roosevelt Ave. at about 12:30 p.m. where about 100 people were inside attending the service, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said.
One of the suspects then began shooting at several members of the congregation, according to French.

A male letter carrier apparently had a heart attack and fell out of his vehicle, which then plowed into a parked car in the Richmond district Monday afternoon.
U.S. Postal Service spokesman James Wigdel confirmed that a letter carrier died while delivering mail, but he would not provide the person’s name or comment further on the incident until the family was notified.
