Man arrested during pre-sentencing going-away party

Keith Cardone, 28, of Scranton, Pa., was arrested on an outstanding drug warrant while throwing himself a “Going Away Ba$h” — before being sentenced for his participation in a $3 million local drug-dealing gang. Officers who spotted Cardone’s party fliers and Facebook notice busted him during the farewell festivities at a Scranton bar. Now Cardone could get more jail time than he was already facing. Does GOP have a ground game? RGA’s get-out-the vote program

Yes, Republicans seem to have all the polls going their way, but do they have a ground game? Will Democrats turn them back for lack of one? Might we come to the end of the night without a clear decision by the voters? Read More

Races to watch if you like reruns

IA-GOV: Former Gov. Terry Branstad should easily reclaim his old office, possibly by a 20-point margin. Democratic Gov. Chet Culver, D, is one of the most hated governors in America, which is saying a lot. The  top-ticket blowout could be big enough to endanger one or two House Democrats currently believed safe. Iowa voters even appear poised to toss out a couple of Supreme Court justices after their 2009 decision on gay marriage. Read More

Today’s polls bear bad news for Feingold, Conway, Sestak, Manchin, Giannoulias

Where the NRSC is spending today

Here are today’s spending reports from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. My interpretation is (1) despite the conflicting polls, they think they’re still right in it in West Virginia, and (2) they view Colorado as the big game right now. Read More

Where the Dems are spending today: Unlikely targets

Today, the DSCC made some pretty unsurprising expenditures. They cut ads against Republicans John Raese, W.Va., Linda McMahon, Conn., Ken Buck, Colo., and Rand Paul, Ky. They also made a $576,000 ad buy against Dino Rossi. The DCCC’s most notable ad buys, on the other hand, go to a handful of districts which, with a few exceptions, probably no one would have expected a month ago: Read More

Giuliani Weighs In On NPR Firing

BLUE BELL, Pa. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani stopped by a rally held here Friday afternoon for Republican senate candidate Pat Toomey, who is currently tied in the polls with Democrat Joe Sestak, and he had a lot to say about NPR’s decision to terminate commentator Juan Williams. Williams lost his job Wednesday after telling Fox News host Bill O’Reilly that he worried about getting on flights with people dressed in full Muslim garb. Read More

Club for Growth to drop $1M against Sestak

With the Pennsylvania Senate race tightening, the Club for Growth will be buying $1 million in Philadelphia-area airtime to run this ad, highlighting Democratic nominee Joe Sestak’s support of the bailout and the stimulus package: Read More

Pa. Democrats: Coming back, or on the verge of collapse? (Updated)

Yesterday afternoon, the DSCC released a poll showing Rep. Joe Sestak, D, leading Pat Toomey, R, in Pennsylvania’s Senate race. Naturally, I considered the source, but you have to wonder when you see a poll like that: Has something happened to change the race? Could it be that the next independent polls will show a shift — from the 5-9 point lead Toomey has held for months, to perhaps a much tighter race? Read More
